The Match is back – with a twist. For the first time in the ninth iteration of the charity golf event, men and women will compete together.
PGA stars Rory McIllroy and Max Homa will be joined by LPGA stars Rose Zhang on Lexi Thompson on the course.
McIlroy competed in the 2022 event alongside Tiger Woods against Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas. Homa has six PGA Tour wins, most recently winning the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open.
The 20-year-old Zhang won the 2022 and 2023 NCAA Division I Championships while playing for Stanford, and her first LPGA win came in 2023 at the Mizuho Americas Open. Thompson has won 11 LPGA tour events including the 2014 Chevron Championship.
In previous years, athletes from other sports participated in the event. NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Chiefs dueled with NBA stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson of the Warriors in 2023. NFL quarterbacks Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers played against Josh Allen and Mahomes in 2022. Peyton Manning, Charles Barkley and Phil Mickelson compete in the past as well.
The 12-hole event is for charity, and each hole will be worth a specific amount of money.
Each golfer will use the same tees for four par-3 holes. Varying tee boxes and yardage will be used for other eight holes. Whomever raises the most money through this format by the end of the event will be named the winner.

Emmy Award-winning announcer Ernie Johnson, former NBA star Charles Barkley, former PGA golfer Trevor Immelman and three-time LPGA winner Christina Kim will be on the call for the event. Kathryn Tappen will report from the course.
DJ Khaled and NHL on TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette will provide commentary as special contributors by following the participants from a golf cart throughout the event.

The Match heads to Florida this time around and will be played at the Park City Municipal Golf Course in West Palm Beach. It’s also known as “The Park.”
The municipal-affiliated course opened in April 2023 after a huge renovation by Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner and Dirk Ziff. It includes courses for all skill levels, including a a two-acre kids-only golf area.
