The NHL’s 2024 Stadium Series concludes on Sunday with the Rangers and Islanders in a battle for New York bragging rights at MetLife Stadium. ABC has live coverage starting at 3 p.m. ET.

The Rangers (35-16-3) are dominating the NHL’s Metropolitan Division with a seven-point advantage over the Hurricanes. The Islanders (22-18-13) trail the Rangers by a whopping 16 points and need a win to slice that deficit.

Here’s a look at Rangers vs. Islanders odds, props, predictions ahead of Saturday’s outdoor game at MetLife.

Rangers betting news: Blueshirts are surging after NHL All-Star break

The Rangers are coming off a dominant 7-4 win over the Canadiens on Thursday at Madison Square Garden. Chris Kreider led the way with a hat trick that put him over the 25-goal threshold for the fifth time in his career. With 292 career goals, Kreider will almost certainly reach the 300-goal milestone by season’s end.

Kreider leads the Rangers with a stellar +17 plus/minus rating, which measures a player’s goal differential for his team and opponent when he’s on the ice. Plus/minus ratings don’t include goals that are scored on the power play.

The Blueshirts are riding a six-game winning streak heading into Sunday’s outdoor tilt versus the Islanders. New York did lose veteran forward Blake Wheeler to a leg injury in the first period against Montreal. He’s unlikely to play against the Islanders.

Starting goaltender Igor Shesterkin is 2-0 after the NHL All-Star break.

  • Rangers 2, Flames 0 (29 saves)
  • Rangers 4, Blackhawks 3 OT (28 saves)

Shesterkin endured an uncharacteristic slow start to and yielded to veteran netminder Jonathan Quick during the first half of the season. Shesterkin recorded his first shutout of the campaign in a 2-0 victory over Calgary earlier this week to improve his record to 21-12-1 on the year.

Quick was back to make 31 saves against the Canadiens. He is now 13-4-2 in net for the Rangers.

Left wing Artemi Panarin is having himself a season for the Rangers. He leads the team in goals (31), assists (40), and points (71).

Islanders betting news: Isles transition to new coach in Patrick Roy

Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy replaced Lane Lambert as head coach of the Islanders about a month ago. New York has gone 3-5 under Roy’s direction and the Isles have lost the last two games.

Roy then made his players pay the price in practice.

You’d have to think the Islanders will be primed and ready to go against the rival Rangers on the biggest stage in the NHL’s regular season. New York left wing Matt Martin got a taste of it in Thursday’s outdoor practice at MetLife Stadium.

“This will be the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of,” Martin said. “Pretty crazy thing to walk out there and really see how big this place really is. ’Cause I’ve been here for Jet games, Giant games, you never really realize quite how big it is until you’re standing on the field, on the ice, whatever. It’s pretty crazy.”

The Isles rely on four players for the bulk of their scoring:

  • Brock Nelson (22 goals and 41 points)
  • Bo Horvát (21 goals and 47 points)
  • Mathew Barzal (15 goals and team-high 56 points)
  • Kyle Palmieri (15 goals and 32 points)

Starting goaltender Ilya Sorokin (16-12-10 on the season) owns a 3-2 career record against the Rangers with a 2.40 goals against average. Sorokin, who has won two of his last three starts, would do well to imitate his new coach in net. Roy won four Stanley Cups during his Hall of Fame career.
