Michigan (21-13-3, 11-11-2) did not have a dominant regular season by any means, but has turned it up a gear in the postseason. The Wolverines notched a pair of wins to eliminate Notre Dame and mounted another victory last Saturday to down Minnesota.
Michigan’s success is engineered by three All-Big Ten first team members: sophomore forwards Gavin Brindley and Rutger McGroarty, as well as sophomore defenseman Seamus Casey. The Spartans had one All-Big Ten first team member in prolific freshman Artyom Levshunov, the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.
The two teams traded victories in the regular season, with Michigan winning 7-1 in East Lansing and Michigan State exacting revenge with a 7-5 victory in Detroit for the Duel in the D.
