Sparks are expected to fly when Top Rank comes to Arizona on March 29. The main event will feature Oscar Valdez vs. Liam Wilson, and the fight airs on ESPN+ in the U.S.

Valdez turned pro in 2012 and won the NABF junior super featherweight title in 2014. In 2016, the Mexican fighter beat Matias Carlos Adrian Rueda for the WBO featherweight title. The 33-year-old beat Robson Conceicao for the WBC super featherweight title but lost it against Shakur Stevenson in 2022. In his last fight in August, Valdez lost against Emanuel Navarrete for the WBO super featherweight title.

A man on a mission, Valdez believes he will hold gold again following the Wilson fight.

“This is definitely a crossroads fights because it will determine who gets closer to a world title opportunity,” Valdez said. “My goal for 2024 is to be a world champion again. I miss being a world champion. Boxing is my life. If you are not striving to be the best, then what are you doing in this sport? I always train hard to be the best. So, this fight means everything because winning this fight will put me one step closer to a world title shot.”

Wilson turned pro in 2018. The Aussie lost against Navarrete in February 2023 for the WBO title, and he has won two straight since. His last contest was a win in December against Jackson Jon England.

The co-main event will see Seniesa Estrada vs. Yokasta Valle to determine the undisputed minimumweight champion. It is a fight worthy of being a main event on another fight card.

Estrada turned pro in 2011. “Super Bad” beat Marlen Esparza in 2019 for the interim WBA flyweight title. In 2021, she beat Anabel Ortiz for the WBA minimumweight belt and beat Tina Rupprecht in March 2023 for the WBC title. Estrada last fought in July 2023, beating Leonela Paola Yudica.

Valle turned pro in 2014. The Puerto Rican is a former atomweight champion. She’s on a 17-fight win streak that saw her beat Joana Pastrana in 2019 for the IBF minimumweight and Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen in 2022 for the WBO minimumweight titles.
