Where to watch Inter Miami vs New York Red Bulls live stream, TV channel, lineups, for MLS match

With both sides ravaged by the international break, Inter Miami limp north to take on the New York Red Bulls without Lionel Messi and a host of other missing players.

Major League Soccer is one of the few top flight leagues across the globe that continues to play through designated FIFA international breaks, meaning clubs are obligated to release their best players for national team duty regardless of whether they have matches on the schedule.

Messi would surely have linked up with the Argentina national team, but a muscle injury has sidelined him, meaning he will miss out for a different reason. The Red Bulls are also shorthanded, with star signing Emil Forsberg away with the Sweden national team.

Yet regardless of who takes the field, all matches are worth the same, and these points are just as valuable as any that feature Messi, Forsberg, or any other international stars on both sides.

Inter Miami vs New York Red Bulls lineups & team news

The already thin Inter Miami squad has been ravaged by the combination of injuries and the international break.

Missing for international duty are Drake CallenderFederico RedondoDiego GomezDavid RuizShanyder Borgelin, and Ismael Boatwright. That’s four starters and two bench options removed as Inter Miami are punished for having quality players fit for international duty.

Additionally to that, there are three other players out injured. Lionel Messi, who almost surely would have been absent anyways for international duty with Argentina, is sidelined with his muscle problem suffered in the CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Nashville. Tack on an adductor injury for his frontline replacement Leonardo Campana, a hamstring problem for Nicolas Freire, plus the lingering absence of Bejnamin Cremaschi and Facundo Farias, and Inter Miami are as sapped of talent as humanly possible.

Inter Miami projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Dos Santos (GK) — Allen, Aviles, Kryvtsov, Alba — Sunderland, Busquets, Gressel — Taylor, Suarez, R. Robinson.

While not quite to the level of Inter Miami, the Red Bulls have also lost the team’s top talent to international duty. Most notably, new striker and captain Emil Forsberg is off to join the Sweden international squad while club teammate Noah Eile joins the nation’s youth ranks over the break. Cory Burke has linked up with Jamaica and John Tolkin has been called up to the U.S. youth international side to prepare for this summer’s Olympics.

Additionally, Dante Vanezir and Serge Ngoma are out with a hamstring injury. Young midfielder Daniel Edelman has joined Tolkin with the U.S. youth side, but was unavailable either way due to suspension following his dismissal in their defeat to Columbus Crew last match.

NY Red Bulls projected starting lineup (4-4-2): Coronel (GK) — D. Nealis, Reyes, S. Nealis, Duncan — Stroud, Donkor, Amaya, Morgan — Mitchell, Manoel.

Inter Miami vs New York Red Bulls prediction, betting odds & lines

  • Moneyline lean: Inter Miami (+195 on BetMGM)
  • Score prediction: NY Red Bulls 1-3 Inter Miami

With so many players absent on both sides and backups set to take part, it’s a very tough prospect picking a winner between these two clubs. Yet of the remaining players, Inter Miami have the difference-makers, led by Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan is a machine when healthy, and he can be the one to lead Inter Miami past a Red Bulls side which already had defensive issues before half its roster got called up for international duty. He’ll need service, which Robert Taylor and Julian Gressel can provide, so long as the paper-thin Inter Miami midfield holds together.
