Juan Francisco Estrada vs Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez fight date, start time, card, price and odds for 2024 boxing fight

A fight between two generations takes place on June 29. Veteran Juan Francisco Estrada defends the WBC and The Ring super flyweight titles against Jesse Rodriguez inside the Footprint Center in Arizona.

The 33-year-old Estrada turned pro in 2008. “El Gallo” has won gold at light flyweight, flyweight, and super flyweight, towering over opponents at 5-8. He has been on an eight-fight win streak since 2018, losing the WBC super flyweight title against Wisaksil Wangek but winning it back in a rematch in 2019.

Estrada won the then-vacant WBC belt against rival Roman Gonzalez in his last fight in 2022, going 2-1 against “Chocolatito.” Though he has been out of action for a while, Estrada looks to prove he has no ring rust against the young Rodriguez.

“I’m very happy to announce my return against Bam Rodriguez,” said Estrada. “After my last victory against Chocolatito, we took a good break, and was able to spend quality time with my family and my kids and heal an injury I was dealing with. I will be more than ready since I know Rodriguez is a dangerous fighter, but in June, it will be clear that there’s is plenty of ‘Gallo’ excitement to come.”

A Junior World Championships silver medalist, Rodriguez turned pro in 2017. “Bam” beat Carlos Cuadras in 2022 for the WBC super flyweight title, later relinquishing the belt to focus on the flyweight division. The 24-year-old beat Cristian Gonzalez Hernandez in April 2023 for the WBO title and took out Sunny Edwards in December to win the IBF belt.

Rodriguez returns to super flyweight to take on Estrada, someone he considers his idol. That all gets thrown out the window as he looks to prove why he is one of the top young fighters out there.

“Fighting for my fourth world title against a legend like ‘Gallo’ is huge,” said Rodriguez. “This is a fight I’ve been wanting for a while, and I’m ready to prove myself once again.”
