King Henry is headed to Baltimore.
For the first time in his dominant career, Derrick Henry will not be in a Titans uniform. The 30-year-old future Hall-of-Famer signed with the Ravens, looking to pursue an elusive Super Bowl title.
Henry has been one of the best running backs in the league over the past six seasons. He has led the NFL in rushing twice, rushing TDs twice, and carries four times.
In the latter stage of his career, the All-Pro running back will look to prove he still has plenty left in the tank. He’ll have the opportunity to do so in Baltimore.

The Ravens have signed Henry to a two-year, $16 million deal that is worth up to $20 million. It comes with $9 million guaranteed.
Henry is coming off of a four-year, $50 million deal he signed with the Titans back in 2020, which made him the highest-paid running back in the NFL.
With $56.4 million in career earnings through eight seasons, Henry is letting his contract value take a back seat to chase his first Super Bowl ring.

Henry has been a workhorse over his eight-year NFL career. He has collected 9,502 rushing yards and 90 rushing touchdowns on 2,030 carries.
Henry has led the NFL in rushing touchdowns and rushing yards twice. In 2020, he became the eighth running back in NFL history to register over 2,000 rushing yards in a single season, earning AP Offensive Player of the Year.
When the masses expected Henry to take a step back during the 2023 season, the then-29-year-old continued to shoulder a heavy workload.
Henry led the NFL in carries for the fourth time in the past five seasons, toting the rock 280 times. His 1,167 rushing yards were second to Christian McCaffrey, and he still punched in 12 touchdowns.
Even though there isn’t a lengthy history of successful 30-year-old running backs, Henry has proved he is more than capable of maintaining a high-usage role.

It’s going to be an entirely different look in the backfield for the Ravens. Gus Edwards, who was the starter last year, left the team in free agency and it’s unclear where JK Dobbins will end up, who is another free agent. Dobbins has dealt with multiple injuries to start his NFL career, including an Achilles tear in 2023.
Henry is the new RB1 in Baltimore. After he was the longtime starter in Tennessee, the power back takes over as the lead runner in the Ravens’ offense. He’s not the dominant force he once was, but Henry figures to play a crucial role in the offense led by the dynamic Lamar Jackson.
Behind Henry, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell figured to battle for the No. 2 role. Hill acted as the backup to Edwards last year, recording 84 carries for 287 yards and three touchdowns. Mitchell got his opportunity late in the season with all of the injuries to the running backs. The rookie flashed his breakaway speed, racking up 396 yards on 47 carries and finding the end zone twice, but he tore his ACL late in the season.

Henry lands in a perfect spot considering the wear and tear on his body. He’s still led the NFL in carries in each of the past two seasons, but his yards per carry have dropped to 4.4 and 4.2, respectively, the past two years. He’ll get a new lease on life in Baltimore, who need a power back with Gus Edwards heading to the Chargers. Edwards racked up 810 yards and 13 rushing TDs last season while sharing time in the backfield with multiple backs (and Lamar Jackson). The TDs will fluctuate, but the 30-year-old Henry should be able to match the yards and approach double-digit TDs playing alongside Jackson.
His value takes a major hit in PPR leagues, but Henry can easily be an RB2 (and flirt with RB1 status) in standard leagues, depending on Keaton Mitchell’s recovery from a knee injury. He’s not what he once was, but a seventh-straight double-digit TD season with at least 900 yards is not out of the question. — Matt Lutovsky
