Happy Gilmore is back in the public eye, 30 years after his silver screen debut. His return to prominence is no coincidence; Netflix is releasing a sequel to the cult classic on July 25.
The event is certainly a momentous occasion. Adam Sandler’s character remains a favorite of many in and outside the sports world. With a host of other stars set to reprise their roles, the film is expected to make a mark in both the hockey and golf landscapes.
So, what better way to commemorate the spectacle than with the release of one of the original film’s most iconic pieces?
With that, here’s what you need to know about Callaway’s release of hockey stick putters, an offering that has already proved lucrative for the American-based manufacturing company.

Happy Gilmore hockey stick putter for sale
The hockey stick-like putter Happy sported during the first film is available for purchase on Odyssey’s website. Bound with a urethane insert that resembles the tape used by hockey players to wrap the blades of their sticks, the 44-inch device will cost buyers $499.99. It’s adorned with all the flourishes one would expect from a piece of movie memorabilia — the putter comes with an athletic sock head cover, a nod to the film’s ad-hoc aesthetics.
The devil’s in the details for the tool, which features a lie angle of 57 degrees, a loft of 0 degrees, and a 21-inch-long pistol-style grip. The dimensions should allow golfers to recreate Gilmore’s famed “slap-shot” putting method.
Southpaws should look away — the putter is only available for right-handed players.
Is the Happy Gilmore putter legal?
Happy Gilmore’s putter might make for a nice accessory, but don’t get it twisted: it’s not street — or course — legal. The putter does not conform to the Rules of Golf as laid out by the USGA. The back of the putter is flat, a no-no given its dimensions, per Golf.com.
So, don’t expect to see PGA Tour veterans wielding the iron any time soon. But if you want to be the talk of the town — at least among your friends — go in your bag for Gilmore’s monstrosity.
How much is the original putter worth?
The original putter is valued at $6,499, per eBay. A limited edition of the device was released in 1996, with just 1,000 made available for the public. Odyssey also authored up the 1996 edition, albeit with a slightly different look than the 2025 iteration. The 1996 version is scrawled in beige compared to black-and-yellow, the disposition featured on the 2025 product.
More Happy Gilmore golf accessories
In addition to the putter, Callaway also commissioned a set of specialized Chrome Tour golf balls to commemorate the release of “Happy Gilmore 2.” The balls, which will run buyers $50, are embellished with hockey sticks, Gilmore’s signature Boston jersey, and some of the film’s famous lines, including “Just tap it in,” and “It’s all in the hips.”
And unlike the putter, Callaway’s golf balls are approved for use on the links.
