The Yankees up and up-and-down season continued this past weekend.
It’s been a rollercoaster ride for fans, as the team goes on spurts of winning game after game, looking unstoppable, while at other times they struggle to break a losing streak.
After making up ground in the AL with a five-game winning streak, they quickly went back to their old ways, losing three out of four games in a series against the Red Sox this past weekend.
There are holes in their lineup that need to be patched internally, which means players will need to adjust to new roles.
Jasson Dominguez practices new position in Monday’s pregame
We’ve already seen Giancarlo Stanton take on the role of playing in the outfield for the first time in a couple of years. Boone doesn’t seem to be afraid of making risky moves, as another Yankee might be forced into a new position next.

A clip on social media surfaced of Dominguez playing first base.
With injuries and players struggling in certain areas, the Yankees have shifted players around. Ben Rice has played catcher, and Jose Caballero has played outfield/infield positions, for example.
Dominguez has been playing a lot of time in left field, but has struggled at times to be a consistent and reliable outfielder for his team.
Getting pregame reps at first base isn’t necessarily a sign of a definite change incoming, but it’s a sign that the Yankees are looking at what their options are, as the regular season isn’t too far from being over.
Dominguez has played in the outfield or been a designated hitter in every game he’s played in the MLB, so playing any infield position would be a career first for the 22-year-old.
