There’s a huge series this weekend in the Bronx.
The NL West-leading San Francisco Giants visit Yankee Stadium to take on the AL East-leading New York Yankees.
There’s just one question: Will Friday’s game be played?
The forecast is iffy, but Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided an update prior to the action.
Speaking with reporters in the 4 p.m. window, Boone said the Yankees are “optimistic” a game will get played on Friday.
And as of 7 p.m. Friday, the first pitch had been moved to 7:30 p.m.
It’s slated to be a three-game series, with afternoon games on both Saturday and Sunday.

Given the rarity of this matchup, a rainout Friday night would likely necessitate the need for a doubleheader on the weekend.
Friday’s scheduled 7:05 p.m. first pitch is supposed to pit San Francisco lefty Robbie Ray (2-0, 3.18 ERA) against Yankees righty Marcus Stroman (0-0, 7.27).

It’s another night that the Yanks will have to manage with a subpar starting pitcher while they await returns from injury.
New York did get positive Clarke Schmidt news this week, as he had another strong rehab outing on Thursday night. He’s probably still got a bit of time until he’s back.
In the meantime, Yankees fans wait for news on Friday’s game.
