After a solid start to the season, the Yankees’ cold streak continues.
They are on the verge of dropping out of postseason positioning, and can’t scrap together wins when they need them.
Mistakes seem to be made over and over again, with no answers as to why they’re happening.
The trade deadline acquisitions haven’t exactly made a positive impact so far, but even some of their promising offseason additions haven’t stepped up.
One of those offseason pickups was Devin Williams, who has been far from as productive as he was the past few seasons.
Devin Williams’ stat shows how much he’s declined in 2025
The Yankees have struggled to find a consistent closer. They went out this offseason and got Williams, hoping he could solve their problems.
It has seemed like he’s hurt the team more than helped recently, being the center of late-game collapses in close games.
It only takes a person watching the game to see, but even the stats back up how poor he’s been relative to past seasons.

The Yankees ‘YES’ broadcast showed a stat that told the story of the season for Williams (via Talkin’ Yanks).
Williams has already reached a total of 26 earned runs in the 2025 season.
That total equals the number of earned runs he let up in the last three seasons (2022-2024).
Williams, as well as several other Yankees players, are struggling to deal with the pressure and struggles they’ve faced in the past couple of months.
The trade deadline has passed, so it’s up to the players to change what they do if they want to give themselves a shot at making the postseason and being somewhat of a threat.
