Yankees Aaron Judge won’t embrace torpedo bats for simple reason

The New York Yankees have scored an insane 36 runs in their first three games of the season, tying a Major League record of 15 home runs in those three games. This has people questioning the new torpedo bats the team is using.

New York has multiple players utilizing the new torpedo bats, which have been approved by Major League Baseball. The new bats put the logo further down the bat toward the barrel, causing there to be more wood in that area. Though legal, New York’s early season success has led some to question the new bats.

Yankees superstar Aaron Judge kept his response simple when reporters, including The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner, asked why he hasn’t tried using a torpedo bat.

“What I’ve done the past couple of seasons speaks for itself,” Judge told reporters. “Why try to change something if you have something that’s working?”

Judge has been proving that he doesn’t need the torpedo bats to dominate so far this season. The two-time AL MVP has been fantastic in the Yankees’ first three games, clubbing four home runs already and driving in 11 runs. Judge has picked up where he left off last season, slashing .545/.643/1.818 in the first three games.

After making it to the World Series last season, the Yankees are one of the four teams without a loss so far in the 2025 season. It won’t be a surprise if New York makes another deep playoff push if Judge and the rest of the offense can maintain the momentum they have so far this season.
