JUMP TO:
After a devastating loss in Game 3, the Toronto Blue Jays got off the mat and produced a convincing 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4.
The Dodgers had to be feeling good entering tonight, as Shohei Ohtani took the mound with a 2-1 series lead. Los Angeles then took an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly, breaking the ice in the second inning.
However, the Blue Jays bounced back significantly, starting with their best player. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swatted a two-run home run off of Ohtani in the third inning, giving the Blue Jays a lead that they would not relinquish.
Ohtani and Bieber dueled for the first two-thirds of the game, as the score remained 2-1 after the sixth inning. Bieber totalled 5.1 innings of one-run ball, with Mason Fluharty getting out of his jam to close out the sixth inning.
To start the seventh inning, Ohtani allowed two baserunners with no outs, which prompted Dave Roberts to go to the bullpen. However, the Dodgers bullpen couldn’t get out of trouble, as Anthony Banda and Blake Treinen allowed four runners to score, which broke the game wide open.
That inning involved a rally of walks, singles and doubles all throughout the lineup, as almost everyone helped produce for Toronto. Chris Bassitt then kept the lead there for the next two innings, and while Louis Varland allowed a run in the ninth, Toronto was able to avoid using closer Jeff Hoffman.
With the win, the Blue Jays tie the series at 2-2 and guarantee that it will head back to Toronto for a Game 6. It also means that Game 5 is even more crucial for both sides.
