Wild LeBron James trade idea pairs Lakers star and son Bronny James with Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama

The LeBron James trade buzz has died down a bit.

There’s still an undertone of uncertainty, though. The Los Angeles Lakers’ 40-year old all-time great doesn’t seem to be in control in L.A. anymore. That mantle has been handed to Luka Doncic.

Now, LeBron is entering the final season of his contract, and his future is a question mark.

Maybe there could still be a trade to come, and if it does, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Bronny James move in the deal with his father, too.

Bleacher Report came up with a pretty wild trade proposal involving the James family, sending both to the San Antonio Spurs.

The full deal would look like this:

  • Los Angeles Lakers Receive: Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, a 2031 first-round pick swap with the Sacramento Kings (that San Antonio acquired in the DeMar DeRozan trade) and a 2032 first-round pick swap
  • San Antonio Spurs Receive: LeBron James and Bronny James

That’d certainly be a move that would shake up the NBA.

It’d be a great basketball history combination to have LeBron paired with Victor Wembanyama, even if only for a year or two.

The Spurs wouldn’t give up Stephon Castle, either, which means that it’d be James, Wemby, the Rookie of the Year guard Castle, No. 2 pick Dylan Harper and more still in San Antonio.

The Lakers would get two talented wings in Vassell and Johnson that would fit more into Luka’s timeline.

The Spurs likely only go for this deal if they feel the rest of their team is lined up to win right now. They certainly don’t have to accelerate their timeline this much if they don’t want to.

The trio of Wemby, Harper and Castle will likely be around for years to come. San Antonio is just getting started.

But maybe, just maybe, the allure of LeBron would be too strong. If this offer was on the table, both sides would have to at least consider it.

Basketball fans would be the biggest winners, getting to see King James and Wemby play together in an NBA season.
