Why Rams removed Matthew Stafford at QB from Week 14 game vs. Cardinals

The Los Angeles Rams went into their Week 14 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals as the favorite despite being on the road.

And the Rams showed exactly why that was the case after they destroyed Arizona in convincing fashion, and only needed three quarters to do it.

In the fourth quarter, the Rams decided to pull quarterback Matthew Stafford from the contest and inserted Jimmy Garoppolo into the game.

Here’s why they did that.

Why Rams removed Matthew Stafford at QB

With such a big lead, it only made sense for the Rams to pull their 37-year-old signal-caller to avoid him getting injured in garbage time.

Stafford finished the contest completing 22-of-31 passes for 281 yards and three touchdowns to zero picks, which was just his latest impressive showing.

There’s no doubt the future Hall of Famer helped his cause with his latest outstanding performance on Sunday in the win over the Cardinals.

With the victory, the Rams maintain their place atop the NFC West.
