Why Marcus Rashford might miss Barcelona’s first La Liga match

With La Liga starting this weekend, FC Barcelona fans are excited to see the team start on the right foot as they take on Mallorca away from home. Barcelona are the current La Liga champions and will look to defend its league title this season.

The club made three signings this summer transfer window in Joan Garcia, Roony Bardghji, and Marcus Rashford. Out of the three, the most experienced is Rashford, after many years at Manchester United in the Premier League.

Despite his arrival being seen as an attractive signing, Rashford’s participation against Mallorca is in doubt due to Barcelona’s financial regulation problems with La Liga. The Catalan club has yet to register Rashford or Joan Garcia, who are viewed as essential for the first team this upcoming season.

Rashford may not play against Mallorca in the first matchday of the new La Liga season, but Garcia may be the signing to not only play, but also start this weekend.

FC Barcelona’s priority is Joan Garcia’s Registration

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are working to register Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford in time for the first league game this weekend, but find it difficult to do so.

Their report suggests that Joan García’s registration is the priority at the moment, leaving Rashford’s chances to officially debut in La Liga this weekend in jeopardy.

Garcia’s participation is also not guaranteed, but Barcelona are more optimistic about registering the goalkeeper in time for the weekend.

With both players potentially out of Barcelona’s first match of the new season, Wojciech Szczęsny may start in goal while Ferran Torres becomes the main striker of the team. Robert Lewandowski is expected to miss the first three league games due to injury.
