One of England’s most decorated defenders just made one of the most surprising moves of the summer.
Kyle Walker, the six-time Premier League winner and Champions League champion with Manchester City, has joined Burnley.
After eight trophy-laden years at the Etihad, the 35-year-old full-back has swapped title chases for a Premier League survival scrap.
His switch comes just months after a loan spell at AC Milan and has left fans stunned across social media. Some called it a “fall from grace,” while others see it as a bold final chapter.
But Walker doesn’t see it as a step down. In fact, he sounds fired up for the challenge.

What Kyle Walker said after joining Burnley?
“I’m delighted to be here,” Walker said after signing a two-year deal with the Clarets. “When I spoke to Scott and heard about his plans for next season, it was an opportunity I jumped at.”
He added, “Burnley had a tremendous campaign last season, built on an incredible defensive record, and I can’t wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad.”

Walker’s move to Turf Moor reunites him with head coach Scott Parker, a former teammate at Tottenham and with England. The right-back, who has earned 96 caps for his country, will now bring his know-how to a Burnley side aiming to stay up after promotion.
It’s understood that Manchester City, who had no long-term plans for Walker, agreed to let him go for a fee of up to £5 million. The deal also allows City to save around £10 million in wages.
Fans, meanwhile, haven’t held back online. One posted (J17), “Man City to Milan to Burnley in 7 months is brazy,” while another simply asked (The Screenshot Lad), “What happened to him?”
But for Walker, this isn’t a drop—it’s a reset. With over 400 Premier League appearances under his belt, he’s not ready to hang up his boots just yet. And on August 16, he could make his Burnley debut… against his old club Tottenham. Talk about full circle.
