Manchester United is coming off an epic win over rivals Liverpool.
In that match, Harry Maguire was the hero. He scored the winner in the 84th minute.
But a week later, Maguire isn’t in the side at all.
Manchester United takes on Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday in evening Premier League action, and Maguire misses out.
Why isn’t Harry Maguire playing today?
United has opted to mix it up in the back for the matchup with Brighton after Maguire was injured during the week.
They’re working with a back five.
The three central players in the back five will be Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw. The wingbacks are expected to be Diogo Dalot and Amad Diallo.
Manager Ruben Amorim said during the week that Maguire picked up a “knock but nothing serious” during the week. Apparently it was enough to keep him out of this one.
Maguire’s contract expires at the end of the season, which makes his availability and performance for Manchester United come under even further scrutiny than usual.
On Saturday, there won’t be any Maguire to scruitinize.
