Why Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb is biggest winner of George Pickens trade

CeeDee Lamb is one of the NFL’s superstar receivers.

His life just got better on Wednesday thanks to the Dallas Cowboys’ trade acquisition of George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickens gives the Cowboys a true WR2, and he also stylistically matches up well with Lamb.

Here’s how one NFC coach explained it to Yahoo Sports:

“The only thing they are similar in is their frame. Pickens’ skill set is more of your true X receiver, outside threat, vertical route-runner. Great catch radius. CeeDee has a more diverse route tree. Can be moved around. In the slot and outside. Think there is a lot [of] versatility in Lamb’s game.”

And one NFC executive thinks it’ll put Lamb in his preferred spot, via Yahoo Sports: “Allow CeeDee to play more free inside, where he’s best suited.”

Before the deal, the Cowboys were looking at a combination of Jalen Tolbert and Jonathan Mingo as their No. 2 wide receiver.

Now, they get a guy who has averaged 1,006 yards per season across his first three NFL campaigns.

Lamb will still be the top dog for Dak Prescott, but now there’s company.

Pickens is a great athlete who makes tremendous contested catches on the outside. He’ll be able to run down the field while Lamb works all over the defense.

It might just be the perfect fit to join Lamb and make the Cowboys’ offense that much more dangerous.
