Chris Bassitt came on in relief in Game 3 of the World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays.
He did it again in Game 4.
That’s notable enough because he’s a starting pitcher.
This postseason, though, Bassitt has been a bullpen guy. The Blue Jays have four starting pitchers they’ve slotted ahead of Bassitt, and that’s all they need.
So they’ve got Bassitt’s funky right-handed delivery in their relief corps now.
And because of that, he made some personal history.

Why does Chris Bassitt pitching make personal history?
Chris Bassitt has never done this before.
The right-handed pitcher has been in Major League Baseball for 11 seasons.
Never in those 11 seasons had he pitched on back-to-back days. Until now.
It’s a huge stage to do it on, too, as part of the World Series.
But it’s also the time of year when players will do whatever their team needs. Bassitt is doing exactly that.
And after a heavy bullpen usage in Game 3, the Blue Jays needed someone to step up after a good Shane Bieber start on Tuesday night. Bassitt was the guy who answered the call.
