The Toronto Blue Jays have to take some inspiration from their AL East rival Boston Red Sox.
It’s the only way to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss in the 18-inning Game 3 of the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Red Sox were in a very similar situation seven years ago. They too were playing Game 3 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium. And they too lost in the bottom of the 18th inning on a walk-off home run (Max Muncy in that case, Freddie Freeman in this).
The only major difference was that Boston led the series 2-0 at that time, while this year was tied 1-1 before the marathon.
Regardless of that, though, the Blue Jays need to pay attention to what happened next.

The Red Sox won Game 4 and then won Game 5, both still in L.A., to claim the world championship. They didn’t let the longest game defeat bring them down. They bounced right back.
Boston even fell behind 4-0 in Game 4. That could’ve been the whole series turning on them. But somehow, they found a way.
This Blue Jays team is a story of comebacks. They were way down in the division in May. By the end of September, they had won it.
They were down in Game 7 of the ALCS before George Springer’s heroics to send them to the World Series.
This story wouldn’t have been written to this point without resilience. Now, more than ever, the Blue Jays need to find it, and they need only look toward Boston to see a place where this has been done before.
