Why are there no Premier League games this weekend? EPL break for March 2025 explained, dates of next matches

We’re entering crunch time in the 2024/25 Premier League season.

While it looks like the title race is all but over given Liverpool’s huge lead at the top of the standings, Arsenal will be determined not to give up until their hopes are mathematically over for another year. Below the top two, the race for the UEFA Champions League places is looking fierce, and a host of clubs still consider themselves in with a chance of qualification for European football of some kind next season.

At the other end of the table, things are looking bleak for the bottom three, but there is still hope for everyone involved in the relegation battle — and still a risk of one or two others being dragged into the mire.

For now, though, Premier League fans will have to wait to see how things unfold, with the action taking a break in the latter two weeks of March.

Why are there no Premier League games this weekend?

There are no Premier League matches over the weekend of March 21-23 due to the international break.

With important fixtures in FIFA World Cup qualifying, plus the UEFA and CONCACAF Nations League, top-flight football is pausing for a two-week period across the major nations.

In the Premier League’s case, the delay is a little longer: the FA Cup quarterfinals take place next weekend, which means the next round of EPL fixtures is not until early April.
