Why Alexander Isak isn’t playing for Liverpool today with injury news

Liverpool is taking the pitch Saturday night to take on Brentford, but the Reds are without some fireworks.

Striker Alexander Isak has to miss out.

Liverpool still rolls out a strong side, as usual, but without their top summer signing.

Hugo Ekitike leads the line, with the usual firepower of Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz among the attackers.

Isak won’t be available.

Why isn’t Alexander Isak playing?

Alexander Isak is out for Liverpool’s match with Brentford due to injury.

Isak started in the Champions League on Wednesday against Eintracht Frankfurt, but he had to be withdrawn at halftime.

It was a groin issue that pulled Isak off the pitch, and that’s what has kept him out against Brentford.

Jeremie Frimpong was also pulled early from that match due to injury, and Ryan Gravenberch came off last weekend against Manchester United.

“Jeremie is not in a good place,” Arne Slot said on Friday. “He is definitely not going to play today, tomorrow, or next week. Hamstring injury, so that will take a while. Alex, not too bad. A question mark for the weekend, so let’s see where he is then.

“That is the same to be said about Ryan. He did not travel with us [to Germany]. So today were are in and let’s see where he is.”

Liverpool is without them on Saturday, and maybe further.
