As soon as Coco Gauff triumphed at the French Open, the comparisons to Serena Williams ramped up like wildfire.
With her win, the young tennis phenon, 21, became the first American to come out on top at the prestigious tournament since Williams did so in 2015.
Gauff’s win came with a prize of $2.9 million — and Williams won the tourney a whopping three times, among many other triumphs. So what’s her net worth now?

First, a quick look at superstar Gauff, whose net worth rose to a whopping $35 million with her French Open win, according to Celebrity Net Worth. It’s a staggering amount for a 21-year-old, but she’s been in the big leagues since qualifying for Wimbledon at just 15.
When Williams, 43, met her now-husband (of more than seven years) Alexis Ohanian, 42, they were on a pretty level financial playing field — both were firmly in the one percent.
Ohanian made his millions as the co-founder of Reddit, one of the biggest social media platforms out there. The Brooklyn native also has a venture capital firm, Initialized Capital, through which he has invested in hugely successful startups that include Coinbase, Instacart, Opendoor and Flexport, according to Celebrity Net Worth. The firm’s investment in the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase alone is reportedly currently worth $3.2 billion, according to the site.
Williams, meanwhile, is considered to be one of the best tennis players of all time — and between the purse earnings and sponsorships, she’s earned a pretty penny. Since retiring, she’s also earned millions in wise real estate deals and stays busy with all kinds of high-level projects, including acting and minority ownership deals for teams such as the Miami Dolphins.
Her husband, however, also knows his way around big-ticket financial dealings. In 2010, Ohanian raised and invested $500 million through his then-new Initialized Capital, which now has more than $3 billion in assets under management.
His personal current net worth is $150 million, says the site.
