Who won the NASCAR race today? Full results, standings from EchoPark Automative Grand Prix in COTA

The Cup Series returned to the road for the third race of its epic slate, the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas.

This year’s field featured a host of gifted drivers capable of nabbing the checkered flag. Chase Elliott, Ross Chastain, Tyler Reddick, and William Byron have all raced to the gold at COTA, while Michael McDowell, AJ Allmendinger, Chris Buescher, and Shane van Gisbergen make up a glimmering group of road-course savants hoping to compete for the ultimate prize.

Whereas plate races — like Daytona and Atlanta —revolve largely around speed and blocks galore, contests at road courses like COTA tend to be defined by precision. If drivers can keep their cars clean as they slalom from one turn to the other, they give themselves a chance of finishing highly. If they’re erratic? It could make for a long day.

The precarious nature of the ride — which saw jockeys wade through 18 turns to complete a lap — made for unexpected results. Lap traffic is s a fickle sorceress, and no track encapsulates that more than the 2.3-mile whirling dervish that is COTA.

With that, here’s what you need to know about the winner and final standings from Sunday’s Cup Series clash, the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix.

Who won the NASCAR race today?

Christopher Bell captured the checkered flag at COTA, holding off strong runs by Byron and Reddick to pick up his second win in as many weeks. Bell outpaced Kyle Busch with five laps to go, setting up a battle with Byron and Reddick across the final four spins. Despite some heady driving from Byron, who chomped at the No. 20 car’s ankles and fired off a series of attempted slide jobs, Bell emerged unscathed, continuing his hot streak in the process. With his win, Bell became the first driver since Kevin Harvick to take home two of the first three races of the Cup Series calendar.
