Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Masters, one of his seven PGA Tour titles last season. The superstar Texan will be vying for his third green jacket in four years this weekend when the 89th edition of the Masters tees off from Augusta.

It’s not all about Scheffler, though — the storylines are as plentiful as the azaleas surrounding hole No. 13. Rory McIlroy continues his quest for a career Grand Slam, and he enters the week in fine form. Xander Schauffele always turns up the heat for the Masters. And don’t forget about those guys from LIV!

Can Jon Rahm give LIV Golf its second Masters win in three years? Will a sleeper emerge? What storyline will prevail leading up to the next Green Jacket ceremony?

Masters Tournament odds 2025

Reigning champion Scottie Scheffler (+400) enters the Masters as the odds-on favorite to win again, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The world’s No. 1 golfer sizzled through all of 2024, but he has yet to bag a win this season.

Scheffler’s main challengers are a pair of familiar faces in Rory McIlroy (+650) and Jon Rahm (+1300). Rahm won the Masters in 2023, while McIlroy has yet to win in Augusta despite finishing inside the top 10 in seven of nine starts from 2014 through 2022 (including runner-up in ’22).

Collin Morikawa (+1800), Bryson DeChambeau (+1800)Xander Schauffele (+1800) and Ludvig Aberg (+2000) are the only other golfers with better than 25-to-1 odds to win the Masters. Morikawa finished T3 at last year’s event, while Aberg finished solo second. Schauffele has a T3 and T2 at the Masters himself, and he and DeChambeau always seem to get up for the majors.

Below are the full outright odds for the top golfers in this year’s Masters tournament. Only competitors with odds of +12000 or better are listed.

Masters course breakdown: Augusta National Golf Club

As always, the Masters will be played at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA. The course is a par-72 layout that plays at 7,555 yards in length. One of the PGA Tour’s longest courses, it features four par-5 holes as well as three par-4 holes that measure at least 495 yards long.

Augusta’s course length allows the game’s elite hitters to find a lot of success at the course. Those with great driving power can take advantage of the course’s wider fairways, while those who produce the most strokes gained off the tee (SG:OTT) will likely set themselves up for shorter, easier approach shots.

Speaking of the approach game, it’s always imperative at Augusta. Putting at Augusta is considered fairly easy as long as you can get the ball within 10 feet of the hole, per Mark Broadie of Golf.com. That said, Augusta is known for having the highest three-putt rate of any PGA Tour course, so it will be important for golfers to minimize the distance of putts they have to make during the event.

That’s where the approach shot comes in. Efficient putting often comes hand-in-hand with strokes gained on approach (SG:APP) and average proximity to the hole, so bettors will want to key in on those recent stats. Focus also on greens in regulation percentage (GIR), as players who hit greens at high rates will avoid scrambling for tough chip shots.

Finally, it’s always crucial to evaluate which players are the best at avoiding three-putts, given that they happen at a higher rate than average at Augusta National. Pay attention to which players have the best putting stats from inside of 10 feet this season, and you could sniff out a sleeper outright or a high-value top-10 finish prop.

Masters expert picks

Below is a breakdown of the best candidates to consider betting on in this year’s Masters field.

Masters best bets to win tournament

Yes, it’s boring, but if you’re planning to bet on the Masters, Scottie Scheffler (+400) should probably be on your card. The world’s No. 1 golfer has won eight tournaments since the start of the 2024 season, and he’s walked away from Augusta with a green jacket twice in the past three years. He’s the best in the world for a reason.

Scheffler ranks No. 7 on the PGA Tour in SG:APP and proximity — and 12th in GIR percentage. He’s third overall in SG:TOTAL and average score, and he’s the best on TOUR in par-4 scoring.

It’s also hard to stay away from Rory McIlroy (+650), at least as a top-5 finish (+130). McIlroy has been in spectacular form this season, winning THE PLAYERS and Pebble Beach. He still needs a green jacket to complete his career Grand Slam, and he’s impossible to overlook.

Backing the 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm (+1300) also seems like a solid move. Rahm dominated Augusta in his win, clearing the rest of the field by four strokes. He has elite power, a tremendous short game, and the kind of poise that rivals Scheffler’s.

Again, these picks may not be particularly bold, but odds are that both Scheffler and Rahm will be in contention throughout the weekend. That makes them safe bets and quality hedges for those with longer-shot outrights on their betting card.

Masters value picks for 2024

Anything longer than +1200 seems like good value for Xander Schauffele (+1800), even though he has never won a Masters. He won the PGA Championship and the Open last year, and he has finished in the top three at Augusta twice. His well-rounded game makes him a perennial contender for the green jacket.

Don’t be shy with Ludvig Aberg (+2000), either. The Swedish star finished runner-up at last year’s Masters, and he won the Genesis Invitational earlier this season. Nobody has a better approach game from 200-plus yards, and he can go on birdie rampages when he’s feeling it.

Masters sleeper picks

Former FedEx Cup winner Viktor Hovland (+4000) recently took home the Valspar Championship, dominating the final round of the Copperhead Course. A confident Hovland can be a scary thing for the Masters field, and we like him to at least finish in the top 30 this weekend.

Don’t mistake the thinness of Akshay Bhatia (+6500) as weakness — the 23-year-old can launch the ball, he hits a ton of greens, and he’s one of the best putters on TOUR. Ranking sixth in birdie average and 10th in par-4 scoring, Bhatia is a fantastic value at 65-to-1.

One of the best on TOUR in approach shots, J.J. Spaun (+13000) has flown under the radar all season despite finishing T2 at the Cognizant Classic and losing in a playoff with McIlroy at THE PLAYERS. Getting Spaun at -140 to finish in the top 40 seems like the best value wager of the weekend.

Masters Tournament winners by year

Reigning FedEx Cup champion Scottie Scheffler took down the 2024 Masters, his second green jacket since 2022.

Jon Rahm won the event in 2023, winning by four strokes over Brooks Koepka. It marked Rahm’s second career major win and his last before leaving the PGA Tour to join the upstart, Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit.

Scheffler will look to become the first back-to-back winner of the Masters since Tiger Woods, who accomplished the feat in 2000 and 2001. Woods, who last won shockingly in 2019, is currently injured and, therefore, will not be in this weekend’s field.

Below is a look at every Masters winner since the event began in 1934.
