The Detroit Lions clinched the NFC North title and No.1 seed in the conference after defeating the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18. Dan Campbell’s squad ended the regular season with a 15-2 record and earned a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the postseason due to being the NFC’s top seed.
Though the AFC Wild Card games are complete, the NFC has played just two games so far this weekend. The No.2 seed Philadelphia Eagles defeated the No.7 seed Green Bay Packers on Sunday, and the Washington Commanders defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night. One of these games gave us an answer on Detroit’s divisional round opponent.

END OF UPDATE
The Lions will square off against the Washington Commanders at home in the divisional round of the playoffs. Washington picked up a resilient 23-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round on Sunday Night.
The Commanders’ victory also gives us some information on the other NFC divisional round matchup. The winner of Monday Night’s wild card finale between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings will head to Lincoln Financial Field to face off against the Eagles next weekend.
Washington is an intriguing playoff matchup for the Lions, as rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has completely revived the franchise, and the offense is dynamic and explosive. However, Dan Quinn’s defense is extremely inconsistent and has some glaring weaknesses in the secondary.
So, long story short: Detroit and Washington will battle for a spot in the NFC Championship Game next weekend at Ford Field in the divisional round. Dan Campbell’s squad must come ready to play.
