The Most Valuable Player award is highly sought-after, and not just for the trophy and the nice payday.
The honor also comes with an aura of prestige, plus the opportunity to give a speech sharing the shine with those who helped the MVP get there. MVP speeches also have spawned iconic moments — such as when Kevin Durant called his mom “the real MVP” and a meme was instantly born.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named the 2025 NFL MVP, and in his speech, thanked everyone on the team, in the front office and on the staff. He even thanked someone named “Slick Rick” in the mailroom. While this showed that Allen wanted to thank everyone that worked for the team, the fact that Rick was shouted out in particular got the attention of fans.
Here, we introduce you to Rick and his response to getting the shoutout by Allen.
MORE BILLS: Why Josh Allen won MVP over Lamar Jackson
Who is ‘Slick Rick’?
“Slick Rick” is actually Roderick Morrow. He is a Buffalo native that has worked for the organization for the past 15 years.
Morrow adores his job and considers it a dream come true that he gets to work in the mailroom for the Bills. He is a lifelong Bills fan, and had no idea that Allen was going to mention him during his speech.
When Josh Allen won MVP he gave a shoutout to ‘Slick Rick’ in the mailroom. I wanted to know more about him.

Why did ‘Slick Rick’ get a shoutout during Josh Allen’s MVP speech?
Allen wanted to pay tribute to everyone that helped him earn this award. He obviously thanked his teammates, family and fiancee Hailee Steinfeld.
Allen then made sure to let those that work in the team’s practice facility that they are appreciated. He singled out “Slick Rick” in the mailroom, showing that everyone involved with the franchise from the top of the organization all the way to the mailroom played a part in getting him to where he is.
