Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans featured the Chiefs taking on the Eagles in the biggest night on the NFL calendar. Fans and media flooded the city for an entire week of events leading up to the game.
Plenty of athletes and celebrities took part in the festivities. And amid the celebrations, two big names stirred up bad blood — and we don’t mean Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift.
Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, nearly came to blows with former MLB pitcher John Rocker on the streets of New Orleans, as seen in a recently surfaced video from Super Bowl weekend. Sporting News has more on the altercations.

Who is John Rocker?
Rocker, 50, was drafted by the Braves in the 18th round of the 1993 MLB Draft. Five years later, he finally made it to the majors.
A left-handed pitcher, Rocker spent most of his career in the bullpen. He played for the Braves for three and a half season before being traded to Cleveland. Rocker only spent five total seasons in the bigs, but in that span, he gained a lot of notoriety for his temper. He would often yell at opposing fans, and even one time threatened a reporter.

Rocker and Mahomes both played professional baseball, but they never played on the same team.
Mahomes Sr. spent more than 10 years playing MLB, from 1992-2003. He was with the Mets from 1999-2000, and at one point in that stretch, Rocker went on a racist rant about the city of New York and the people that live there.
Flash forward to present day, and the two came close to clashing on the streets of New Orleans. We don’t know exactly what went down between the pair, but the tension seemed to rise rapidly, though they walked away from each other without any physical altercation.

Was this a staged promo for an upcoming fight?
The video was recirculated by Barstool Sports. The company hosts an event called Rough N’ Rowdy, in which celebrities will box each other. And it turns out that Rocker and Mahomes Sr. are seemingly scheduled to fight each other at an upcoming event.
The two may not like each other, but the fact that they may be boxing soon makes it seem like this fight was staged — especially given what they said online after the video went viral.
