Manchester United are making aggressive moves to clear out their squad after finishing 15th in the Premier League last season and one of the biggest names on the way out could be Alejandro Garnacho.
Argentine winger who has made 58 appearance for the Red Devils has slipped out of the favor with manager Ruben Amorim, whose relationship with Garnacho began to unravel following United’s Europa League final loss.
The tension between the two escalated publicly with both exchanging remarks that made it clear their working relationship had reached its breaking point and was no longer sustainable.
Initially, United hoped to secure a fee in the region of £60–70m [$80-94m] for the 21-year-old.
However, The Telegraph now reports that the club has lowered its asking price to £40m [$54m] as the club look to accelerate its summer rebuild and clear space for new arrivals.
Clubs interested to sign Manchester United star
There are handful of clubs in England, which are showing interest in the Man United star.
According to reports- Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are all keeping close tabs on the Argentine’s situation.
Chelsea had shown prior interest in January but have since added attacking options like Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Estevao Willian. While still in contention, the Blues no longer appear frontrunners.
Villa, however, have emerged as a serious destination with Marcus Rashford thriving at Villa Park last season and contributing with four goals and six assists after his January move, Unai Emery is reportedly eager to add Garnacho to his attacking unit.
Tottenham have maintained interest too. Transfer expert Graeme Bailey gave detailed picture of the situation.
“Alejandro Garnacho wants to stay in England, and there are only so many options. Chelsea, we know, like him, whilst Tottenham have maintained contact.,” he said to TBR football.
“But Aston Villa have emerged as an option, I am told the player has done his homework on the possibility of working with Unai Emery, and he has heard good things,”
“Emery knows how to get a tune out of these young talents – we have seen it with the likes of Morgan Rogers.
Indeed, could Garnacho replace the England man? It is not impossible. Villa want to make some impact on the market this summer, and Alejandro Garnacho could be just that for them.”
