The Seahawks look a lot different ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Seattle fans hope that’s a good thing for their beloved squad, which will open the preseason with an Aug. 7 exhibition against former Seattle coach Pete Carroll and his Las Vegas Raiders.
Speaking of Vegas, Geno Smith is also a Raider. Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald will be turning to Sam Darnold under center after the veteran QB shocked the world with a 14-3 season in Minnesota last year. Seattle has also replaced longtime wideouts DK Metcalf (now a Steeler) and Tyler Lockett (Titans) with future Hall-of-Fame candidate Cooper Kupp and veteran speedster Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
Of course, the Seahawks already had plenty of talent. Young wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba is coming off a 100-catch, 1,100-yard Pro Bowl season. Kenneth Walker III when healthy is an elite running back. If rookie offensive lineman Grey Zabel and Seattle’s line can keep Darnold upright — and DeMarcus Lawrence can help Seattle’s defense return to glory — this could be a sneaky-good team headed into the 2025 season.
