Where to watch Real Oviedo vs. Real Madrid live stream, TV channel, start time, lineups for La Liga match

The Carlos Tartiere will finally roll out the red carpet for La Liga football again, with its first top-flight fixture in 24 years set for Sunday. Real Madrid are the headline visitors as Real Oviedo chase their maiden points of the season.

Matchday one was a bitter pill for the Asturians, who left Villarreal empty-handed after a 2-0 defeat. A squandered penalty from Salomón Rondón could’ve flipped the script, but instead, the miss opened the floodgates. Oviedo were soon down to 10 men and punished with a pair of goals before halftime.

Veljko Paunovic knows it could be a long slog of a season, but reinforcements have been arriving. Fresh faces like Eric Bailly and Leander Dendoncker are already through the door as Oviedo look to steady the ship.

Madrid, meanwhile, travel north fresh off a 1-0 win over Osasuna. They dictated proceedings in that opener but looked a touch rusty in front of goal, relying on a Kylian Mbappe spot-kick to get over the line.

After a busy summer that included Club World Cup duty, Carlo Ancelotti’s men may still be playing catch-up on sharpness. New recruits are also bedding in quickly, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Álvaro Carreras were all thrown straight into the XI earlier this week.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Real Oviedo vs. Real Madrid lineups, team news

Real Oviedo’s squad sheet is looking a little thin heading into Sunday’s clash. Álvaro Lemos is sidelined with injury, while the likes of Santiago Colombatto, Jaime Seoane, and Lucas Ahijado are all nursing knocks that leave their availability hanging by a thread.

There is some good news, though—David Costas returns after serving his suspension. On the flip side, Alberto Reina is forced to sit this one out following his red card in the defeat to Villarreal, leaving Paunovic with another hole to patch in defense.

As for the lineup, there’s unlikely to be much tinkering. The home side is expected to stick to the familiar formula, with veteran forward Salomon Rondon once again leading the line as Oviedo look to cause an upset against the Spanish giants.

Real Oviedo starting XI (3-4-3, right to left): Escandell (GK) — Costas, Dendoncker, Calvo — Vidal, Ilic, Sibo, Alhassane — Chaira, Rondon, Hassan.

Injured: Álvaro Lemos, Santiago Colombatto, Jaime Seoane, Lucas Ahijado
Suspended: None

Real Madrid’s injury list remains stacked, with Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy, Endrick, and Eduardo Camavinga all still stuck on the sidelines.

There is a boost for Xabi Alonso, though, as Antonio Rudiger returns from suspension after missing the Osasuna clash.

Eder Militao showed no signs of rust in that game and looks set to keep his spot next to Dean Huijsen in central defense. Further up the pitch, Brahim Diaz could once again get the nod ahead of Rodrygo as Los Blancos fine-tune their attack.

Real Madrid starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Courtois (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Militao, Huijsen, Carreras — Valverde, Tchouameni, Guler — Brahim, Mbappe, Vinicius.

Injured: Jude Bellingham, Ferland Mendy, Endrick, Eduardo Camavinga.
Suspended: None.
