The second round fixture in the EFL Cup sees two Championship sides Preston North End and Wrexham face off on Tuesday at Deepdale in Preston.
Preston are unbeaten in the three Championship games so far, picking up seven points (2-1-0) in three games while sitting sixth on the table. They are coming into this clash off a 1-0 win over Ipswich during the weekend courtesy of a Milutin Osmajic penalty in the 11th minute.
The Lilywhites beat League Two’s Barrow 1-0 in the first round while while Wrexham advanced after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Hull City, eventually winning 5-3 on penalties. Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham, however, are sitting 19th in the Championship after opening the season with losses to Southampton and West Brom.
Wrexham and Preston share a long history, having faced each other in 35 head-to-head meetings, with Preston winning 16 and nine ending in a draw. However, their last meeting came way back in 2000.
