Just a few weeks after their Leagues Cup final clash, Inter Miami and Seattle Sounders are set to battle, this time in the MLS on Tuesday.
The Herons head into this one licking their wounds after a 3-0 loss to Charlotte FC at the weekend, a result that pushed them down to eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.
For Miami, it’s been a sharp decline from early-season optimism. Once touted as serious contenders in the East, they’ve slid out of the top seven, suffering back-to-back defeats across competitions and managing only one victory in their last four.
The only bright spot was a 3-1 win over Orlando City. Alarmingly, even with Lionel Messi leading the line, the side has failed to find the net in two straight matches. Javier Mascherano’s squad now find themselves a point shy of New York City FC in the race for an automatic playoff berth, though they do hold two games in hand to close the gap.
Seattle, meanwhile, remains comfortably inside the playoff picture in the West, holding fourth place despite being held to a 2-2 stalemate by the LA Galaxy.

Inter Miami vs. Seattle Sounders lineups, team news
In Saturday’s setback, Miami were forced to cope without Fabrice Picault, sidelined by a quad issue, while David Ruiz, Baltasar Rodriguez, and Allen Obando all missed out through hamstring troubles.
Their problems deepened late on as Tomas Aviles picked up a second yellow card with just over 10 minutes left, ruling him out of this fixture. Luis Suarez will also remain unavailable, serving the second of a three-match suspension after his spitting incident in the Leagues Cup defeat to Seattle.
Inter Miami predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Ustari (GK) — Alba, Lujan, Falcon, Fray — De Paul, Busquets — Bright, Cremaschi, Messi —Allende.
Injured: Picault (hip), Obando (hamstring), Rodriguez (hamstring), Ruiz (hamstring).
Suspended: Luis Suarez, Tomas Aviles
On the Sounders’ side, injury concerns linger as well. Joao Paulo, Pedro De la Vega, and Paul Arriola all sat out last weekend with knee problems, Ryan Kent was absent due to a shoulder strain, and Stuart Hawkins missed out through a quad complaint.
Seattle’s attack, however, continues to find form. Jesus Ferreira and Daniel Musovski both struck in the first half of their recent win over LA, while Osaze De Rosario, Alex Roldan, and Paul Rothrock were on target in last month’s Leagues Cup triumph over Miami.
Seattle Sounders predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Frei (GK) — A. Roldan, Andrade, Ragen, Tolo — Vargas, C. Roldan — Ferreira, Rusnak, Morris — Musovski.
Injured: Paulo (knee), Arriola (ACL), De la Vega (knee), Kent (hamstring), Russell Hawkins (hip).
Suspended: N/A
