All-Star weekend is going global in the NHL with the league foregoing its typical celebrations for the 4 Nations Face-Off.
The United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden will take part in a four-team, seven-game tournament across a week in February. Canada vs. Sweden kicks off the event with a game on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Canada is well-known as one of the best hockey countries in the world. Talents such as Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon hail from Canada. Those three will be on Canada’s 4 Nations Face-Off team.
Sweden is a strong hockey nation in its own right, too. Joel Eriksson Ek, Elias Pettersson and Rasmus Dahlin are a few notable names on the roster.
This opening game will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada at 8 p.m. ET.
