Al Nassr and Al Ittihad are set to kick off their 2025/26 domestic campaign when they face off at Hong Kong Stadium in the 2025 Saudi Super Cup semi-final.
Al Nassr had yet another disappointing season with Cristiano Ronaldo as their marquee players as they ended up trophyless for the third straight year. They ended up finishing third in the Saudi Pro League, were knocked out of the AFC Champions League Elite in the semi-final and were eliminated in the Round of 16 of the King’s Cup.
However, they have been hard at work this summer as they have recruited former Al Hilal boss Jorge Jesus as their head coach, while signing stars like Joao Felix, Kingsley Cmoan and Inigo Martinez. Faris Najd will be looking to prove their worth and hopefully take a step towards winning their first official trophy with Ronaldo.
Al Ittihad, on the other hand, had a spectacular 2024/25 season as they ended up winning the Saudi Pro League by eight points over defending champions, Al-Hilal. They also won the King’s Cup by defeating Al Qadsiah in the final.
However, they did not have a very active transfer window, and struggled massively in their pre-season friendlies. They started with a 4-0 loss against Fenerbahce and then followed up with a pair of two-goal losses against Vitoria and Fulham.
