Where is Corey Conners from? Hometown, college and more to know about Canadian roots

The 2025 Masters Tournament featured a field of 95 golfers, four of whom have Canadian roots. Corey Conners was among those four.

The PGA Tour golfer, who has competed in the Masters a total of eight times, came into Sunday of the 2025 tournament seeking his best finish yet with a score of -8, trailing only Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau.

Conners’ stardom is only growing from the Augusta stage. And as one of the few Canadian players in the field, he’s represented his home country well.

Where is Corey Conners from?

Conners was raised in Listowel, Ontario, which is around 100 miles west of Toronto.

Among Conners’ first victories was the 2010 Ontario Amateur.

Where did Corey Conners go to college?

Conners attended Kent State University from 2010-14, competing on the golf team.

While at Kent State, Conners was teammates with a pair of future Canadian professional golfers: Mackenzie Hughes and Taylor Pendrith. In the 2014 U.S. Amateur, he finished runner-up, which gave him his first bid to the Masters in 2015.

Has Corey Conners won a major?

Conners has never won a major. He has two PGA Tour victories: the 2019 Valero Texas Open and the 2023 Valero Texas Open.

While he has yet to win a major, Conners does have extensive experience at the four tournaments. He’s competed in the Masters eight times, the U.S. Open six times, the PGA Championship six times and the Open Championship six times. 

Most of Conners’ success in majors has come in Augusta, but he has finished in the top 15 of all four tournaments. Here are his best finishes in the majors:

Corey Conners Masters history

In Conners’ first Masters, back in 2015, he missed the cut. However, he still had the best score for an amateur that year at +5.

Since returning to Augusta in 2019, Conners has missed the cut just one other time, making three consecutive top-10 finishes from 2020-22.
