The undisputed super middleweight champion will be on the line Saturday between Alvarez and William Scull — who remains unbeaten at 23-0 with nine knockouts.
The match will be a unique one for Alvarez, as he takes his talents beyond North America in the ring for the first time.

Where is Canelo Alvarez’s fight?
Alvarez’s fight with Scull will be in The ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The arena’s website says it is “equipped with the latest audiovisual technology, flexible staging design, and superior sound quality.”
Why is Canelo Alvarez fighting in Saudi Arabia?
Alvarez is fighting in Saudi Arabia because he signed a deal with Riyadh Season, an entertainment initiative in the country.
He signed the deal back in February, and the fight with Scull is the first of the five under the deal. Per ESPN, Alvarez is also slated to fight Terrance Crawford on Sept. 13 in Las Vegas, then have two more fights next year in Riyadh in February and October.
For the Guadalajara, Mexico native, this will be his first time ever fighting somewhere that’s not in North America. Alvarez has fought in various locations between the U.S. and Mexico throughout his career, primarily fighting in Las Vegas in recent years.
Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull fight purse
The official fight purse has not been announced, but Alvarez is set to earn an estimated $80 million from the fight, according to Marca, based on his current contract.
Canelo Alvarez contract with Turki Al-Alshikh
Alvarez’s contract with Turki Al-Alshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, came in February. It includes four fights, with the first being the Saudi Arabia fight against Scull. Reports in February initially indicated Alvarez would finalize a fight against Jake Paul in May 2025, then he agreed to the deal with Riyadh Season.
The deal was the most lucrative of Alvarez’s career so far, per Marca, and is worth an estimated $400 million for five fights. It was initially reported as four fights, but Mexican boxing analyst Carlos Aguilar reportedly told MVS Deportes it will instead be five.
Celebrity Net Worth currently estimates that Alvarez has a net worth of $250 million.
