Where does Casado fit in this Barcelona team

Marc Casado started off last season with a golden opportunity as Frenkie De Jong was injured and Marc Bernal suffered a long-term injury that made Casado a guaranteed starter.

He took his chance well and had standout performances against the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid which made him seem like a permanent starter in this team.

He did suffer a dip in performances towards late November and December which left him vulnerable to get his spot taken.

In the end, Frenkie De Jong came back from his injury and won over Flick with the quality he has going forward and his driving with the ball.

Casado has no real fault for this but he was now back on the bench and to make matters worse he suffered a knee injury which kept him out for two months.

Now, Casado’s future seems unsure as he’s not a starter and Marc Bernal is coming back to the team from his injury.

It seems that for now he wants to compete and try to earn his place on the team but it won’t be easy for him.

If he doesn’t get minutes in the first half of the season, will he look for a move away in January?

He would have plenty of interest as the DM position in football is coveted and he still is just 21-years-old. Or does he wait and see how De Jong’s renewal goes and maybe he gets his spot back if De Jong leaves.

Either way it feels that as of now there’s more questions about Casado’s role in the team than answers.
