Jannik Sinner romped to the first Grand Slam title of the year after beating Alex Zverev in a one-sided final at the Australian Open.
The Italian beat his opponent 6-3,7-6(4),6-3 in front of a raucous crowd at Melbourne Park to defend his title.
Madison Keys had earlier claimed the women’s singles title after shocking two-time champ Aryna Sabalenka in the decider, with the American emerging victorious with her first grand slam title.

When is the next tennis Grand Slam?
With this year’s edition of the Aus Open in the books, attention now quickly turns to France.
The clay courts at Roland-Garros will come calling in late May when stars descend upon Paris vying to write their name into the tournament’s illustrious history.
Carlos Alcaraz is the reigning champion in the men’s singles after beating Zverev in five sets last year.
The win proved pivotal for the Spanish young gun as he then went on to defend his Wimbledon title shortly afterwards.
Meanwhile, Iga Świątek swept aside Italian Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 in the women’s final to lift the trophy.
The victory maintained the Polish star’s dominance in France after also claiming Grand Slam wins there in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
