Christopher MacDonald is set to reprise his role as Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore 2, meaning the rivalry between Gilmore and McGavin is apparently alive and well.

Who will play Chubbs in Happy Gilmore 2?
Carl Weathers played Chubbs Peterson in the original movie, but Weathers died in February of 2024. However, the sequel reportedly honored Weathers in some fashion. It’s unlikely that Chubbs will be played by another actor.Â
Sadly, even the alligator that cost the Chubbs character his hand, passed away earlier in May. The 640-pound reptile called Morris, was 9-feet long and estimated to be between 80-90 years old.Â

Is Julie Bowen back for Happy Gilmore 2?
Julie Bowen is also back for the Happy Gilmore sequel, as she will once again play Virginia Venit in the movie. Bowen was relatively unknown before appearing in the original film but has since risen to stardom after the smashing success of the television show “Modern Family”.
