What happens if MLB All-Star Game is tied after 9 innings?
If the game is tied after nine innings, a Home Run Derby commences. The rule was put in place in 2022.
Each manager picks three players from the roster, with one alternate.
Batters get three swings each to hit as many home runs as possible.
They can take as many pitches as needed.
Whichever team gets more home runs out of those nine combined swings wins.
If there’s a tied, there is a tiebreaker batter for each team that also gets three swings, and that can go on until one team wins.
