For a minute, it looked like the Blues were on track for another hard-earned playoff win. Then they turned it into a statement.
St. Louis steamrolled the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Winnipeg Jets 5-1 in Game 4 of the Western Conference First Round, evening the best-of-seven series at 2-2. The dominant performance came just two nights after a 7-2 dismantling in Game 3, swinging momentum hard in the Blues’ direction.
But a strong night ended on a sour note.
Defenseman Tyler Tucker went down late in the third period with what appeared to be a right leg injury. He lost his footing while going in for a check on Brandon Tanev and crashed awkwardly into the boards, absorbing the impact on both legs.
Tucker needed help getting off the ice and into the dressing room. Head coach Jim Montgomery had no concrete update postgame, but the early expectation is that Tucker could miss the rest of the series — or longer, if the Blues advance.
