Former Boston Celtics Sixth Man of the Year Award winner Malcolm Brogdon is still without a team, with many questioning where he could end up. Some have suggested he could land with the Golden State Warriors, while others believe he might have to take another role with a below-average team.
Whatever Brogdon wants, he’s likely a better fit for a contending team. According to a recent report from Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, there have been contending teams interested in him. He reported that the Minnesota Timberwolves have reached out to Brogdon for their final spot.
“The Wolves have looked into several candidates for the spot, including Malcolm Brogdon, Cam Payne and Landry Shamet, league sources told The Athletic. However, all indications are that Bones Hyland is the front-runner to get that final spot, league sources said. Hyland signed a two-way contract with the Wolves in February, played briefly in Iowa and spent the rest of his time with the Timberwolves,” he wrote.

As he mentioned, it’s unlikely Brogdon will secure that spot; however, they may be looking to bring in a veteran instead of giving Bones Hyland the keys to the backup point guard role.
Even if they don’t believe that Hyland will have to play much with Mike Conley and Rob Dillingham, in case one of them gets hurt, having Brogdon to fall back on would be ideal.
The Timberwolves will be searching for an NBA title next season, and Highland might not bring them close to that if he has to play.
