The Golden State Warriors are ready to make some big moves, but there might be one specific deal that could push them over the top.
Over the past few years, the Warriors have generally been on a downward trend. Since winning the NBA title in 2022, not much has gone the Warriors’ way.
With injury concerns and old age plaguing Golden State’s hopes of winning a title in recent years, it is hoping to be good enough in 2026 to make at least one more deep postseason run. While the team might not be perfect as currently constructed, there is one move that could fill the Warriors’ biggest hole and propel them to the top of the West.
Time to add a big man
This offseason, the Warriors have mostly been stuck trying to address Jonathan Kuminga’s contract situation. The restricted free agent has been unwilling to budge on his demands, but it seems somewhat likely that a two-year, $45 million deal could be coming in the near future.
Assuming that happens, Warriors on SI’s Liam Willerup has a perfect trade target for Golden State next season. In a recent article, Willerup noted that Jarrett Allen could be the perfect trade target for the Warriors.
Although Al Horford is expected to come to the Warriors this offseason, Willerup noted that Allen’s all-around skillset could be perfect in Golden State. Already known as a solid defender, a frontcourt of Allen and Draymond Green could be lethal defensively.
Add in that the Cleveland Cavaliers have been rumored to want to move off Allen, and sending Kuminga out could be all the Warriors have to do to make something happen.
