Warriors still in running to land former MVP after NBA insider’s most recent update

The Milwaukee Bucks are at a crossroads. They are still trying to compete for championships while star Giannis Antetokounmpo is still in his prime, but they continue to fall short. The Bucks won the 2021 NBA championship, but have failed to even reach the Conference Finals since. This is why Giannis’ trade rumors are picking up.

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the teams interested in landing the Greek superstar. Additionally, a recent update from an NBA insider has given new life to the Giannis-Warriors trade rumors.

Shams Charania, who originally reported that Giannis was open to the idea of playing in a different uniform next season, has had the inside scoop on Giannis’ potential departure.

Charania went on Pat McAfee’s show Tuesday morning to reveal an update on the Giannis trade rumors.

“Giannis Antetokounmpo is in the process of figuring things out.. I’m told that process is ongoing and he hasn’t had that meeting with the Bucks yet” Charania said Tuesday.

The fact that Giannis still hasn’t decided on his future in Milwaukee could mean a few different things. The offseason just started, and he could still be figuring out where his head is at.

On the other hand, the fact that he hasn’t told the Bucks one way or another whether he is planning to ask out this offseason could mean he is just delaying a difficult conversation.

If Giannis does plan to leave, the Warriors could be a great option for him. A Giannis-Warriors trade would not only give Giannis an incredible chance at winning another championship, but the Bucks could likely get a pretty hefty haul of draft picks and young prospects from Golden State in return.

This Giannis trade update from Shams certainly doesn’t paint a clear picture of what will happen this offseason. However, the fact that no conversation has happened between the Bucks and their superstar means the Warriors are still in the running.
