It’s safe to say that after an uneventful offseason, the Golden State Warriors have increased their productivity and provided Stephen Curry with plenty of ammunition heading into the 2025-26 season.
A 6-foot-3 former Philadelphia 76ers guard is among the several free agent signings the organization has completed lately.
“The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent guard De’Anthony Melton to a contract,” the Dubs announced Wednesday. “Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.”
“Melton, 27, appeared in six games (two starts) with the Warriors last season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.2 steals in 20.2 minutes before undergoing season-ending surgery on Dec. 4, 2024, to repair a torn left ACL.”
“Melton, who originally signed with Golden State as a free agent in July. 8, 2024, was traded by the Warriors to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a deal to acquire Dennis Schroder on Dec. 15, 2024.”
The Warriors made the right decision giving Melton, who spent two seasons with the 76ers before joining the franchise in 2024, another opportunity to compete for a championship in the Bay.

While the SMU product’s first season with the Dubs ended before it really began, he showed he could be effective as a competitive on-ball defender and composed three-point shooter in the half-court (he shot 37.1% from deep with the Warriors last year).
ACL tears are always challenging for players to recover from, especially when they’re mobile assets who must utilize their lateral quickness on the offensive and/or defensive end of the floor.
However, assuming Melton continues to rehab his devastating knee injury and vows not to return to the hardwood until he can play up to his standard, he should succeed in picking up where he left off alongside Stephen Curry.
