Warriors predicted to trade young star for multiple 1st round draft picks, veteran

The Golden State Warriors are supposedly no longer interested in trading Jonathan Kuminga. After a few back-and-forths with teams like the Sacramento Kings and the Chicago Bulls, it doesn’t seem like Golden State can pull off a Kuminga sign-and-trade this offseason. That being said, Kuminga has made it clear he doesn’t want to stay a Warrior. For both sides to enter the 2025-26 season with a clean slate, it would be better if the Warriors could trade Kuminga before the season starts.

The majority of Kuminga trade rumors have linked him to the Kings or Bulls, but this potential Kuminga sign-and-trade is with a new suitor.

The Utah Jazz are rebuilding and could use another young player with star potential. Sports Illustrated’s Thomas Carelli proposed one Jazz-Kuminga trade that could net the Warriors the draft capital they are hoping to get.

“Jazz Receive: Jonathan Kuminga via Sign and Trade

Warriors Receive: Georges Niang via $8.8M TPE, 2027 1st Round Pick 1-30 (Via MIN), 2028 1st Round Pick 1-30 (Via UTA)…

Georges Niang is in the second half of his career, but he does provide a nice surge off the bench. Niang provides a steady field goal percentage over 55% from two-point range. He is also among the best three-point shooting bigs, commonly shooting well over 40% — this sounds like a Golden State Warrior. He just got dealt to the Jazz, but they may very well send him another way if they can gain an All-NBA player such as Kuminga.”

Not only is Georges Niang a nice piece for the Warriors, but those two first-round draft picks make this the best Kuminga trade offer to date. The Warriors could use those picks to provide flexibility for their present and future.

The Warriors could deal the picks now to get some more roster depth, or hold onto them in hopes that a star like Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes available down the line. Either way, this trade gives the Warriors three solid assets and allows them to recuperate some of the value they’ve lost holding onto Kuminga.
