Warriors may part with $70 million Lakers misfit via trade

To the Golden State Warriors’ credit, they didn’t waste much time making a notable move on the trade market, acquiring Dennis Schröder in mid-December.

However, the Schröder and Warriors partnership hasn’t worked out well thus far, possibly prompting Golden to place the two-time Los Angeles Lakers reject on the trade block.

“The Warriors landed Schröder hoping he could be their secondary scorer,” CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn wrote Wednesday.

“Instead, he’s shooting 31.3% from the floor, and Golden State is just 4-7 since acquiring him.”

“Don’t be surprised if the Warriors try to flip Schröder elsewhere for a better-fitting role player or aggregate his salary with a few other players to get a big name.”

While the Brooklyn Nets are tanking for a high 2025 draft pick, Schröder committed to putting his best foot forward with the franchise.

The slithery and poised 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 18.4 points and 6.6 assists while shooting 45.2% from the field and 38.7% from downtown in 23 games with the Nets.

Schröder was expected to transfer his electric scorer ability to the Warriors and instantly elevate their roster.

Unfortunately, the former first-round has been a massive disappointment in the Bay through 11 contests, netting 9.5 points and dishing out 4.6 assists per game on miserable shooting splits.

With the Feb. 6 trade approaching quickly, the Warriors may want to consider including Schröder in a trade package for a more reliable contributor.
