While fans are losing hope, the Golden State Warriors could make a late splash to elevate their roster.
Pairing Stephen Curry with a standout Chicago Bulls guard would likely appease the Warriors’ fanbase.
“The big question is, what would the Warriors be willing to offer the Bulls in a trade for (Zach) LaVine,” Empire Sports Media’s Davin McFarland wrote Friday.
“In recent discussions, Jonathan Kuminga has been excluded from negotiations, but this may not hinder Golden State’s plans.”
“A trade centered around Andrew Wiggins, who has a $23 million contract, could be viable with a combination of Gary Payton II ($9.1 million), Moses Moody ($5.8 million), and Buddy Hield ($8.6 million), along with some light draft capital.”
LaVine has been a prime trade candidate since October.
The electric three-level scorer has been a member of the Bulls’ organization since 2017, but it’s time for both parties to move on.
Although Chicago doesn’t possess a roster capable of postseason success, LaVine has played the most efficient basketball of his career in Year 11.
The UCLA product averages 24.0 points per contest on 51.1% field goal shooting and 44.6% three-point shooting.
With the Warriors, LaVine would team up with Curry, a two-time MVP, and four-time NBA champion, who would be thrilled to play alongside another proven and versatile scorer.
Hield has struggled mightily with his perimeter jump shot since December, giving the Warriors a valid reason to take McFarland’s advice this season.
